CONTACT LENSES
Contact lenses are evolving all the time with new lens materials being released into the market at an amazing rate. About ten years ago we saw the new silicone hydrogel lenses being released on to the market with licences to allow people to wear these lenses continuously for up to 30 days, because the lenses were allowing more oxygen through the lens than needed. These materials are now being manufactured with moisture releasing agents to aid comfort even more. Those who say they gave up wearing their lenses due to the comfort can try again and find a new lens which will be comfortable.
The design of contact lenses is improving too. The lenses can be made in all ranges of prescriptions +23.00 to - 23.00 with -8.00 dioptres of astigmstism! The conventional Daily, Two Weekly and Monthly lenses are available in most prescriptions, whether a simple spherical one, one for astigmatism or a varifocal also in the +23.00 to -23.00 and astigmatism of -8.00. If your prescription is out of the conventional range, then made to measure lenses are easy to order.

At Parker Sedgemore Opticians we offer the service of Free Contact Lens care, this is in conjunction with The Bristol Eye Hospital. If the Eye Hospital dispenses you contact lenses and ask you to get your Optician to teach you how to wear and look after the lenses, then this is a service we can offer you Free Of Charge as the Eye Hospital will reimburse us for our time.
