As a friendly independent opticians we are proud that most of our patients are recommended by their friends and they recommend their friends, as they are impressed with the caring service we offer.
I am proud to say that since 13th April 2010 Parker Sedgemore Opticians has a Corporate membership to the International Institute of Colorimetry. Nina Parker- Sedgemore and Mr Noon have Fellowships to the International Institute of Colorimetry.
We offer colorimetry tests which can determine specific tints for the dyslexic reader, visual stress (hyper excitability of the neurons in the visual cortex) which can be experienced by people who have photo sensitive migraines, photo sensitive epilepsy, all aspects of the austism, Brain injuries, MS and I have one lady and one gentleman who benefit with releif due to dyskinesia caused by their Parkinson Disease drugs.
Whether you have been diagnosed as dyslexic or are just under achieving with studies a colorimetry examination is well worth investigating.
My new lenses, which I started using in January 2006, have improved my reading speed from 45 simple words per minute to 110!!!!
My son whom has had a battle at school since he started has some colorimetry specs on order, eventhough his reading and maths are exceptional his concentration is lacking. Whilst discussing this with my brother who passed his school entrance exams 2 years early and has completed 2 degrees, admitted he has always had problems with his reading and is coming in to be assessed. I shall keep you posted on their progress. I then discussed my son's colorimetry assessment with his teacher 15/03/2010, who also admitted she has the same symptons of visual stress, so I have arranged for a school visit next term, and give a short speach to the class who will be studing light during that term.

We can supply any make or design of lens to suit you and your pocket.
We can give a demonstration of the difference between single vision, bifocal and varifocal lenses. We can also demonstrate the transitions in changeable tints.
Our first choice lenses are Essilor because their Varilux lens designs are very comfortable for most people. Their superb coatings such as Crizal Alize Scotchguard and, in summer 2009, Crizal Forte are very easy to clean and anti-static.
We stock: SILHOUETTE, MARCHON AIRLOCK, FLEXON, X GAMES, VOODOO, EPISODE, BRATZ and many more.
We can supply any type of conventional contact lens, including the most up to date Silicon Hydrogel contact lens, which may be worn for up to 30 days (if this is suitable for your eyes). Silicon Hydrogel lenses are available in one-day, two-weekly, two-weekly for astigmatism and monthly types.
Conventional and Gas Permeable contact lens materials will allow you to have all the above including varifocal design lenses and tailor made for specific needs.
DON’T FORGET TO GET YOUR CHILD’S EYES EXAMINED FREE ON THE NHS. IT IS IMPORTANT TO START WHEN THEY ARE ABOUT 4 YEARS. IF THEY NEED SPECTACLES THESE CAN BE SUPPLIED ON THE NHS VOUCHER, AND ALSO BE REPAIRED ON THE REPAIR VOUCHER.
